Taking proper care of your Michelin tires can help to ensure that they last far beyond your expectations; a time frame that should fall somewhere between 20,000 and 60,000 miles for most sets. Properly caring for tires isn't that much of a challenge, as they require only basic care and are built out of tough rubber, developed to withstand thousands of miles on the road without issue.

If you intend to extend the life of your tires, the first thing that you must do is select the right type of tire for your vehicle from the start. This means selecting a type of tire that is appropriate for both your climate and driving, whether it is a high performance set, a set that is specifically built to withstand cold temperatures, or a general all-purpose set. You also want to ensure you are getting the right size, as specified by the manufacturer.

After you have your new wheels in place, the next big thing you must do to ensure that they withstand the test of time is check the pressure inside frequently, because if they are allowed to become under or over inflated, you could have serious issues. Always check the recommended manufacturers PSI for your vehicle and insure that every tire is inflated to that level of pressure, at least once a month and prior to any long-distance trips.

Though not all of us have the ability to do so, maintaining your vehicle in a covered space that is protected from the elements will help to slightly extend the life of your Michelins. This tip is especially pertinent for vehicles that are not out on the road a lot.

Another important part of maintenance is routinely surveying for any existing issues, such as disintegrating tread value, nails, holes, or cracks in the wall of the tire. Anytime something seems to be physically damaged on the wheel, it is a good idea to bring it by a mechanic for a closer look. It may simply be time for a new set, because no matter how much care you take to extend their life, you will eventually have to replace your car's tire set.

When it comes time for replacement, make sure that you replace all four Michelin tires at once if at all possible, if not replace the axle pair. Never simply replace a single tire as this can reduce the integrity of the set as a whole and lead to an increase in fuel expense.

If you want to find the custom tires that are right for you today, then you can visit Michelin Tires and you may also want to see Falken Tires.
