Lack of confidence is really just a mechanism you use to protect yourself. By refusing to try new things or venture out of your comfort zone you ensure you cannot be hurt. Take a look at your own issues around confidence and you will see that you are really trying to protect yourself.
Lack of confidence also lies in an inability to look past yourself! Your attention is constantly focused inward (towards the ego, not in a spiritual sense) and you therefore become engrossed in the self and your perceived problems. Lack of confidence can also be overcome, then, through service to others. Try looking at things from another person's point of view. This takes your internal gaze away from yourself and allows your natural state to shine through!
