In the last few years bean bag furniture has grown in popularity, due to the great new designs, and also sizes that are available. They have also risen due to many home improvement shows on the Tv using them to add a different dimension to any room and also provide more seating should it be needed. They have also been used in many reality Tv shows too, allowing more people to see them and see that they have become more modern a lot more comfortable than they used to be when they were around in the 60's

One group of people that bean bags can be great for are students. For many students they will be living in the halls for a year or two, or even in a shared house. Either way they typically only have the one room, to sleep and eat in.

Typically in halls of residence, they are given quite a large room, which has a sink, a desk, a bed and a wardrobe. Kitchen and bathroom facilities are normally shared. Sitting on the bed or at the desk can cause problems with posture and the person could get back ache and headaches very easily, but having a proper sofa won't work.

This is where the bean bag can come in, they can choose one which is the right size for them and their room, it provides more comfortable seating for them when they are not studying and if it is large enough, a place to sit for others. This means studying with friends can be easier and comfier.

Even if they are living in shared housing these can come in handy in their room too. Not only that, students are known for having parties, they have extra seating in the house for their guests. Bean bags can be cheaper to buy then getting a sofa or armchairs, so not only are they practical but better upon their pockets too. Large bean bags are an ideal replacement.

Another option is the sofa sacks; these can come in a variety of shapes and colours. Typically though people opt for the oval or rectangular shapes and they can easily fit anywhere between 3-6 people, depending on the size you buy. A great alternative to spending out on expensive furniture, especially when the student will only be using it for a few years.

The bean bags come in a range of colours and prices. You can find them ranging from a few pounds, for the inflatable ones, right up to over £500, which are actually corner sofas. You could find some vintage ones in charity shops or on many of the social networking selling pages, and save yourself even more money.

If you do buy second hand, and the bean bags are quite old, it may be best to find out what the filling is made up of, as this will determine how comfortable they are. If in the event you have family that come over and visit and they have small children make sure the bean bag is suitable for them also. A lot of the older bean bag furniture's were made with fillings that could be hazardous to children.

If you are a student and need extra seating then think about getting bean bags for your room, or to save money on buying sofas for a communal lounge think about getting large bean bags instead.
