We have all watched the movies featuring some highly customised vehicles which are simply awesome! These vehicles usually have thousands of dollars spent on them, with custom engines, speed and driving enhancements, improved exhaust systems, body kits and custom paint jobs. Despite our desires to achieve this effect with our own vehicles, the cost of all this is in most cases, beyond what we can afford.

That being said, creating your own custom paint job on your vehicle is less expensive than you may think, and you can even do this yourself. From customising your new car to make it more unique and personal, to improving a classic vehicle and to bring it into the 21st century, car paints are a great way to improve the look of your vehicle, without breaking your bank balance.

When deciding to improve the look of your vehicle with car paint, there are several points you will want to consider.

Firstly, what style or look do you want to achieve? For example, do you want a single color paint finish, a two tone paint, or perhaps a single color paint job, which also features a custom paint design to reflect a company logo, flames, or anything else which you may want.

Once you have decided on the particular finish you want, you should then select the paint colors. Many online stores will feature many common colors and vehicle paint brands. If you are looking for something more unique, you can always enquire with the store and request them to make up a color as close to a sample that you will send them. This may cost more than off the shelf paints, but the finish will be to your taste.

If you are applying a new paint job to your vehicle, you will also want to consider the exterior components of the vehicle, and if they also need improving or replacing. For example, your current vehicle may not have color matched bumpers, so you could have these painted to match the vehicle. You can even replace certain vehicle trims with chrome to improve the aesthetics.

Now you know the style and color of the paint you require, it is time to decide whether you want to carry out this project yourself, or enlist the services of a professional. If you don't have any experience, applying new car paint to your vehicle can be a very lengthy, and also difficult job. You will need to sand the vehicle down, prime it, leave it to dry (or heat it using hot lamps), and then apply several coats of the paint to produce a brilliant finish. If you don't apply the paint evenly, you can have patches on your vehicle which don't match other area's, and may even need to start the entire process again. You will also need to perform the paint job away from dust, dirt, and rain.

Hiring a professional to carry out the paint work for you is usually the best option. You are guaranteed a perfect finish, and most will guarantee their work for a period of time too.

For help choosing the best car paint for your vehicle, make sure you research on the quality of paints and styles available online.
