Many years ago, when people summarised what the future may look like, they did hit on something that has been adapted into our world, and that is cars that run on no fuel. This came in the form of electric cars, initially to help with the environmental effect petrol and diesel vehicles were causing.
It was in many European countries that they began to introduce these cars, with governments saying they will have a certain amount of electric cars on the road by a set time, of course many of the countries failed to meet this quota. This is because many of the cars that were being offered were far too expensive, were too small and did not look that appealing to the eye. There was also the issue of travelling times, and having the ability to charge the car up when they got to their destination.
One country that pushed the sale of electric cars was Spain, where they are called coche electrico their first sales were not that good, and did not meet what they had hoped to, but experts were confident that they would take off. Some people had researched that it was much like when mobile phones and PC's were first introduced, sales were low to start with due to the expense and also the limited amount of options to choose from. They are confident that they will have at least 250,000 electric and hybrid vehicles in circulation by 2014. Hybrid cars do seem to be outselling the all electric cars however.
Electric cars have been getting some make over's, and prices - coches electricos precios have dropped on them too, and there are also schemes to help people buy their first electric car. In Spain, it has just been announced that Seat will be collaborating with Ficosa and Sanyo to create beautiful cars that people would like to drive.
Sanyo is going to help with the manufacture and development of the car batteries so that they can travel greater distances and with more access points to charge them up. Then Ficosa will help with the car components and also the systems that will improve the cars usage, with regards to communication devices.
You can also find that some rental firms and airport taxi services have decided to go green and are also offering electric cars as alternatives for people to choose between. This is a great idea at the airports as it will help to bring down the emissions that accumulate in the particular area, whether this will take off though, remains to be seen.
There are some great new designs coming for the electric cars during 2012, going from two seater cars, where the passenger sits behind the driver, to family saloons, and even small transit vans, every area has been covered. Value ranges still vary anywhere from £7000 upwards, but they have become more affordable. There is also the option of buying them where you can pay monthly. Together with new technologies we could see more electric cars on our roads, with hopefully more charge points available so that people can make longer journeys in their car.
