Unfortunately, car insurance premiums tend to be rising each year, as a result of careless drivers and claims being awarded to those injured. Even if you are a very careful driver, have no speeding convictions or accidents on your record, you will still have to pay more than last year for your insurance, and this has led to a growing trend of customers looking elsewhere for more affordable choices.
When looking for car insurance, it can often be confusing on who offers the best insurance deals, which ones suit you and your vehicle, and of course, how to get competitive quotes without having to ring each company. That being said, the internet has made this process so much more simpler, and it is in fact very easy now to find competitive and free car insurance quotes online.
Here are some tips to get you started.
1. First of all, you will need to find a compare vehicle insurance quotes website. You may have seen these advertised on television or the radio. There are many available online, and some may have better agreements in place with particular insurers. I always recommend signing up to at least 2 different comparison websites, as this will help you find the best rates.
2. Once you have found a comparison website, you will need to create a free account. Enter all your information (such as your date of birth, driving experience, vehicle you own etc). You must be honest when providing this information, as this data will be used to source the best quotes available for your driving record and vehicle. If you provide inaccurate or false data, should you need to make a claim in the future, you could find your insurance company may not pay out.
3. Once you have entered all your information, click the 'quote search' button. This will use your information against the database of insurance companies, and within minutes you will be presented with lots of different quotes.
How to Choose The best Insurance Premium: Choosing the cheapest insurance premium isn't always best, so you will also need to look at the policy of each provider to see what they offer in return for their fee, and whether this suits your requirements. Some typical common points you need to consider are:
1. The policy excess (including any voluntary excesses too). If you have an accident and your vehicle requires repair, you will need to pay a policy excess. A lot of cheaper premiums have very high excess amounts, so make sure you find a balance between the two.
2. Check to see if the policy is fully comprehensive (covers your vehicle as well as a third parties). If you have an accident which is your fault, your vehicle could require repairs which won't be covered by your insurance if it is not a fully comprehensive policy. This is usually called a Third Party Coverage policy.
3. Check to see if the policy requires payment in full, or whether you can pay monthly for the insurance coverage. Some insurers may charge extra for monthly payments, so make sure to check the total cost before buying.
