Many people will book a holiday and leave their preparation and packing until the last minute. This might be ok if you only need to pack clothing items, however you could soon find that you are missing essential travel accessories which you could of bought before departure, and saved yourself a lot of hassle and money.

People will require different travel accessories when they go abroad, depending on what country they are visiting, the purpose of their trip, and also of course personal preferences. But there are always a common set of accessories which people tend to forget when travelling, and these are listed below:

1. Travel Adaptors
When you travel abroad, you may find your current power leads used for your laptop computer or mobile phone, do not fit the local electrical sockets. To be able to charge your electrical equipment, you will need to purchase an electrical adaptor, which are rather inexpensive. If you forget this number one travel item, you will find them at many tourist destinations around the world, however expect to pay a premium for it.

2. Travel Pillows
Travelling on aircraft for long periods of time can be uncomfortable, particularly when you want to sleep. A travel pillow is designed to offer full support for your neck and head, allowing you to sit and relax comfortably during your flight.

3. TSA Luggage Locks
Luggage locks can be bought in either a key or number lock style. Both offer good levels of security, however you may find that some airport staff security will break your luggage locks to verify the contents of your luggage. This could be due to not having the luggage lock key to hand, or if they suspect you are carrying something you shouldn't be. By purchasing TSA luggage locks, all that is required to unlock your luggage is the secure pass number code. Airport staff will request this number when they wish to open your luggage, so you won't have to worry about your locks being broken.

TSA Luggage locks tend to offer more security for luggage too.

4. First Aid Kit
If you are visiting a country which doesn't have a robust health service, or perhaps you are visiting areas which are not near to local hospitals, a first aid kit should be the top of your list when travelling. Travel first aid kits are generally much smaller and more compact, so they are easier to carry with you when you travel, and contain all the necessary items should you require them.

5. Repellents and Lotion
Insect repellents and sun tan lotions are vital when visiting hot and tropical countries. These can be purchased from most travel gear shops, and should be packed before your departure. Make sure you buy the correct type of repellent for the country you are visiting, and also buy the right factor sun lotion to protect your skin, and that of those travelling with you. Sun burn related illness are high for people who visit hot countries, and you don't realise damage has been done until it is too late.

Make sure you pack the right travel accessories for your destination, all of which can be found at travel gear shops online.
