One of the best methods to use for the promotion of your website is still by article marketing. Writing and publishing articles in a number of different article directories on the internet will improve your Alexa rankings and build solid back links to your online income business better than any other method.

The key to this type of internet marketing is the resource box at the foot of each article that you write. This is the area in which you can place a link to your website or any page within your website that is relevant to the article you have written, and the more articles you publish the greater amount of back links will be pointed at your website and the better your ranking will be.

Because of the popularity of using article marketing as a means to build online businesses, a number of article submission companies have come to light offering the service of distributing your articles for you. These services have the ability to submit your articles to many hundreds of article directories on your behalf which, if you are limited for time, is well worth the money they charge. The amount of back links generated to your website alone is worth using this kind of service.

When the question of duplicate content came to the fore, a few of these companies developed a system where you could publish modified versions of an article that you wrote and they would distribute that article with variations to the different directories.

There is however another very effective way of improving your ranking and achieving good results for your online income business and that is by getting your unique articles published on exclusive highly ranked authority sites in your particular niche.

No matter what you market, there will always be some highly ranked authority websites that are leaders in that field, and these websites attract a huge amount of targeted traffic.

Your main objective in getting your articles published on a few of these websites would be to become known as an expert in this field and encourage some of this traffic to take a look at your site as well.

To get your articles published on some of these sites, you would need to approach the content editor with a proposal and a sample of your work. It is possible that you could do this by email but it would be a good idea to also think about telephoning or writing a letter. You can probably find the address and contact details on the relevant website.

Your next step would be to write a proposal of what you want to do. In other words let them know that you would like to supply them with a certain number of unique articles per month, which will be published on their website exclusively with your author details and a link to your website URL which will be included at the foot of each article that you write.

Make sure to let them know that it is your intention to write these articles exclusively for them and for their use alone. If you are publishing articles in article directories as well just be sure to use different ones there. If you are making a promise that these will be exclusive articles see that you adhere to that promise if the authority site agrees to your proposal.

Once the agreement is in place you can start writing your articles around specific keywords that can link back to your website URL. Vary the keywords and link them to different pages within you website as this will give you deep linking as well. Don't link everything to your home page as your site gains very little depth this way.

By getting your keywords optimized and your articles published in high ranking authority sites your online income business will begin generating more targeted traffic, which in turn creates the opportunity for more sales and at the same time you will become recognized as an authority in your field.
