Getting backlinks for your website is of paramount importance if you intend to succeed with an internet based business. If you are not sure what a backlink is, it is when your website URL is on someone else's website and the more of them you have, the greater your chances of getting lots of traffic. Without traffic your business will die.

In this article we are going to discuss some of the methods that you can use to increase the traffic to your site on a daily basis.

1. Post comments on other peoples blogs. Make sure when you do that they allow you to include a link back to your website.

2. Spend some time in discussion forums and include a hyperlink with your chosen long tail keywords in your signature. People reading and participating in the forums are likely to click on the link back to your site if the comments you make are well thought out and helpful. Don't just post for the sake of it as this will not help you in any way. People will soon learn that your only purpose in posting is in order to get backlinks and will not be interested in visiting your website.

3. If you scroll down to the bottom of this article you are reading right now, you will notice that there is a resource box. This will contain a link pointing back to the writer's website. By writing and submitting articles to article directories you can improve the amount of traffic to your site immensely and these articles will go on providing links for years to come.

4. Another way of getting articles out with links back to your site is by writing blog articles and submitting them to social sites. The search engines love them and so do the social directories.

5. You can trade links with other websites by doing reciprocal linking, this can be time consuming but you can speed up the process by joining a reciprocal linking company and finding partners with whom to trade links.

6. You can purchase ads in ezines. These will get archived on the internet and these archived issues will continue to give you backlinks for years. To make it simpler you can purchase multiple ads through an ezine advertising company. These will be placed in many ezines at the same time.

7. If you are asked to write a testimonial for a product launch do it. This is a great way to get free advertising and can give you great traffic and backlinks as people will read and reread the sales page.

8. You can buy text links on other people's blogs. If the blog has a sidebar your link can end up getting thousands of exposures with the readers of that blog.

These are just some of the ways to get links for your internet based business. Just by being inventive and following these ideas diligently and regularly you will soon have traffic flowing to your website. Remember that the more links to your site you have, the greater your chances of success.
