How to Use Smoker Chips in any Kind of Grill

Smoker chips are bits of wood that allow you quickly create a fire. They are very helpful especially if you just want to have a distinctive smoke taste to your favorite food. Remember to familiarize yourself with the user's manual of your grill since they usually offer some tips on how you can use your chips. There are numerous varieties of wooden chips and gas smoker chips and it is advisable to check first which type works for the brand of smoker that you own.

HICKORY CHIPS

Cooks usually use wood grilling as one of their methods of preparing food. They use chips made out of hickory wood since it gives an excellent aroma and can be effectively use with other kinds of wood like apple, pear and others. It is also suitable in all kinds of smoking in grilling meat products like ribs and chicken. Another type of wood chips is mesquite. This type of smoker chip has an aroma like ham so it is appropriate for cooking meat products.

ALDER CHIPS

This type of chip gives out a delicate aroma that is slightly distinctive and sweet. It is good for cooking food like poultry, seafood, birds and others. Groups that usually sell this type of chips give customers some samples. Alder are usually composed of woods that naturally give out good flavor like maple oaks, ash, cherry and others.

HARDWOOD SMOKER CHIPS

This type of wooden chips is appropriate for seafood, different kinds of meat products and poultry. Make sure that it does not have any resin.

ADDITIONAL TIPS

Before using any these kinds of chips, you must soak it first for thirty minutes in H20, wine, juiced and others. After that, removed the liquid and put the chips in the smoker container. You can also place the chips on a foil. You can use the wood chips by placing them below the grate or combining them with briquettes.

The smoke coming from the chips will produce the necessary taste for you meal. But if you are placing them in a wood smoker, there is no need to place them in H20 or any other kinds of liquid. Remember that some models of smokers only accept wooden chips so you have to check if you have the appropriate gas smoker or electric smoker chips.

Grill makers started installing smoker drawers when they realized that individuals love using smokers. You can put soak chips in these compartments so that during the grilling process, the food can capture the flavor from the chips. But if you do not have a drawer, place the chips on a foil. Remember that whether you are using a smoker that is powered by charcoal or gas, you can acquire the authentic taste of barbecue with the help of these chips.
