What do you think of when you hear 'green'? Do you think 'crazy tree huggers'? Or do you say hooray, let's save our planet? Land development and deforestation has certainly taken its toll on the environment. 'Going green' is high on the modern business agenda, and it has to be dealt with head on from all fronts. So a company committed to 'green' will go the extra mile to produce environmentally friendly products. And that includes tap manufacturers.Put your money where your mouth is. If you believe in caring for the future of our world, choose a company that has the same commitment.

7 Inner Secrets of 'Green' Taps

1. 'Green' taps aren't really green! I haven't found any company that manufactures green colored taps. There are a huge array of beautiful taps from shiny silver, silksteel, burnished bronze, nickel, black, white, cream and even gold. Plenty of wonderful colors and finishes to choose from, but not green!

2. 'Green' taps are made to last. They might be more expensive but they will far outlast the many cheaper taps on the market. These inferior taps will soon be in the landfill adding to the planet's pollution, while the more expensive ones will carry on working perfectly for many years to come. Look for a tap that has a manufacturer's guarantee, preferably for 5 years. This is a good way of assessing a company's confidence in the quality and durability of their product, as well as their commitment to 'green'.

3. 'Green' taps have added extras to save water. A Perlator disperses air into the water, giving a luxurious bubbly flow to the water. This way you can use about 40% less water. You certainly won't feel deprived or feel that you are having a water shortage! This type of bubbly flow feels wonderful while at the same time saving water and money.

4. 'Green' taps include a ceramic disc instead of the more traditional rubber washers. These ceramic discs last far longer and are able to fine tune the water flow. They also turn off very easily. In fact, it's often only a quarter turn that's needed to go from a small flow to a full flow.No more dripping and leaky taps! No more waste!

5. 'Green' taps are very easy to operate. Many have levers so take minimal effort to turn off. This is really great for anyone who battles a bit with their finger or hand mobility.

6. 'Green' taps also come as water filters. A cartridge in the tap filters out chemicals and all the other water contaminants. Voila! You have a crystal clear, unpolluted glass of water at the turn of a tap. The cartridge does need replacing but if you're a person who only uses bottled water it will work out far cheaper in the end. Buying bottled water is certainly not cheap.

7. The styles range from modern to classic, suitable for any bathroom or kitchen that you would like to be in a class above the rest!
