Who is going to win?

Will it be the Shower curtain?

Cast your mind back a bit and imagine the scene. You jump into the shower and while you're lathering soap all over yourself, the shower curtain blows in and sticks to you. Now there's a fight between you and the curtain. Afterall who is really the rightful owner of the little shower cubicle, you or the curtain?

And finally you're all squeeky clean and out you step right into a big puddle of water. Oh no, not again! You forgot to make sure that the shower curtains were inside the shower, rather than the outside, dripping water all over the bathroom floor! Hopefully you don't slip as well, landing on 'you know what'.

Well those are most of the cons I can think of at the moment, but fortunately there are two pros I have to mention.

Shower curtains can be used as an emergency drape in the event you find yourself with no towel in the bathroom. You really don't want to run down the passage stark naked!

The other appealing point about shower curtains is that they are cheaper than glass shower enclosures.

Or will Glass Shower Enclosures win the tug-of-war?

For starters, glass enclosures keep the water where it belongs, that is, on the inside of the shower cubicle!

Modern glass shower enclosures are so well manufactured and sealed that every manufacturer is proud of the fact that water does not seep out onto the bathroom floor.

They're easy to clean. I don't think anyone needs reminding of all the mildew that sticks so easily to shower curtains. Talk about a breeding ground perfect for mildew to multiply! And then there's the hassle to get them clean.

The wonderful thing about modern glass shower enclosures is that the glass has a special covering. This coating protects the glass from damage and also repels water. Yippee! No more mindless scrubbing to get the shower sparkling clean. As the glass repels water , there is no place for any mildew to stick to.

Gone are the days of a small, dark shower tucked into the corner. Most manufacturers are more than willing to custom make any shape even if it's a sloping framework to fit into a loft. Shape is no problem. And if there is definitely no space for a separate shower, you can get a glass shower enclosure to fit round your bath. Problem solved!

If you are remodelling your bathroom, even better. Go wild and make the shower as big as possible. What about a shower built for two! That could be fun.

Nowadays, many people prefer showering. Maybe it's a time factor, or maybe it's just so much nicer to be standing in a stream of water.

To balance the tug of war, between shower curtains and glass shower enclosures I've got to think of at least one 'con' to the glass enclosures. All I can think of is the price, but hey, I don't think that's really a problem when you think of all the wonderful benefits of a glass shower enclosure!

The result is ... without a doubt, Glass Shower Enclosures!
