Cars that are being recalled right now were identified with possessing safety hazards by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which also monitors all vehicle features that may be in violation of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. Recalls, once announced, must be addressed by the manufacturer's licensed car dealerships, at no cost to the vehicle owner.

Nissan has numerous vehicles being recalled now by the NHTSA for a potential oil leak: 2011 Infiniti FX SUV manufactured between June 21, 2011 and August, 2011; 2012 Infinite M Sedan manufactured between June 22, 2011 and July 30, 2011; 2011-2012 Pathfinder SUV manufactured between June 16, 2011 and September 19, 2011; 2011-2012 XTerra SUV manufactured between June 16, 2011 and October 3, 2011; 2012

Frontier pickup manufactured between June 16, 2011 and September 19, 2011; and the 2012 NV Van manufactured between June 11, 2011 and September 21, 2011. The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is being recalled by General Motors after being notified by the NHTSA that vehicles manufactured between June 2, 2011 and November 21, 2011 have a brake concern. It has been reported that vehicles manufactured between this period, have either a front inner or outer missing brake pad. This concern could mean a reduction in the vehicle's brake performance, thus increasing the chances of a crash. General Motors' dealerships are offering free checks for all vehicle owners under this recall. If the brake pad is missing, it will be replaced, plus the customer will receive a new brake caliper and rotor.

Only nine of the 2012 Honda Odyssey vans are being recalled by the NHTSA, which was manufactured between October 31, 2011 and November 30, 2011. The recall notes a lower front suspension bolt that may have been improperly tightened. Continual use of the vehicle could cause the bolt to become loosened and bring about a shift inward of the wheel assembly that would result in the loss of steering.

NHSTA has also issued a recall for the 2010-2011 Cadillac SRX crossover, manufactured between October 26, 2008 and July 5, 2010 and between February 2, 2010 and June 23, 2011 for a transmission defect. This is a serious recall, as it is in violation of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. The transmission shortcoming is the result of a shift cable that was improperly installed. This issue can lead to a driver being unable to shift a car out of a certain gear, unable to move the vehicle, or believing a vehicle is placed in park when it is actually in gear.

The last most recent recall is the 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport compact crossover, manufactured between November 9, 2011 and December 16, 2011, for a defective turn signal. This is also in violation of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. This defect can either not work at all or suddenly turn on when the driver has no intention of making a turn. Recalls are a serious issue, as it relates to the the safety of vehicle drivers and others. It is important to keep informed of recalls and see an authorized service dealership to service any issued recall.
