The easiest way to start your music production career is to start making beats for other artists. You can then sell these beats to different artists and get your 'foot in the door' for bigger and better things. Everyone has to start somewhere.

This is a simple piece of advice which is given to all beginners and aspiring musicians. But we all know that making free beats comes at a price and a pretty steep one at that.

Of course, with online beat makers, it gets much cheaper and the process becomes much simpler, but there's a lot to learn about making free beats. Here are a few pointers which will hopefully help you get started.

Top Ten Tips

1. If your music doesn't sound too good, or if it somehow didn't work out in spite of serious attempts, don't try to make a go of it. DISCARD IMMEDIATELY!

2. When you're recording, try to do without all the paraphernalia of effects. After you're done recording try out different effects to see which sounds best.

3. Start the mixing and adding process only after you're down with the recording and premixing. NOT before that.

4. When you're considering delaying backing tracks, do remember that you shouldn't over do it! Just delay it a little bit, NOT MORE THAN THAT!

5. When you're singing, make sure that the words are clear and audible. No one likes figuring out what you're singing while listening to the song, it takes their mind off of the music.

6. If you're thinking about compressing the sound right up until you reach the end, then you've got the wrong idea; drag this out for as long as you possible can.

7. If you think that making beats just means copying and pasting and editing from other pre recorded music, then you're never going to be able to make good music. Put in as much of your recordings as you can.

8. If you want presence, then try this. Add an equalizer boost toward the higher end. Your lyrics will sound awesome.

9. Remember, the musician always comes before the instruments! So make sure you're working hard enough at your music.

10. Lastly, keep it simple! If you like the sound of it, then you can try out different effects with it. But if you've already messed it up, then you have to start from scratch again! Hope this simple guide to making free beats was of help!
