Play is an inherent aspect of a child.

Since birth, a child would not stop playing. It is his fundamental way of learning about himself, his family, his community and the world he lives in.

The Gold Coast Montessori centres encourage a parent to allow a child to play, explore and discover his surroundings. This is how a child adapts to his environment.

At an early age, a child takes in everything around him. He absorbs what he sees, hears and feels. Nobody teaches him. Instead, it is his own absorbent mind that teaches him to learn and to adapt his surroundings. He uses his senses to understand the world around.

Like for instance, his sense of hearing. He uses his ears to absorb the different language that he hears. He uses his eyes to see his mother and father who take care of him. It is he who develops himself.

At age 2, the most crucial stage begins. He learns freedom and independence. He can freely move his hands and feet and, his eyes and mouth. More importantly, he becomes aware to do things on his own. He wants to try things by himself. He does not want any adult intervention. He wants to try things in his own way. Then, he learns to play.

Studies show that playing is a means to increase a child's imagination, social skill, language development, cognitive awareness and coping strategy.

This is one of the methods applied at Gold Coast Montessori centres. They believe that a child should be free to learn, to play and to enjoy his surroundings. A strict methodology in rearing a child does not allow him to improve his self-confidence and independence. Thus, a child should be allowed to freely enjoy his surroundings for this is the first time he introduces himself to the world.

More importantly, a child has a right to play. He has the privilege to enjoy and to have fun in order to develop his basic skills. To prevent a child from playing is to impede him from learning.

It is important for a parent to choose a learning centre that offers priceless and effective training. Great Gold Coast Montessori childcare centres encourage the principle that learning should be fun.

It also acknowledges the right of a child to play. No other school provides the kind of method and philosophy that good Gold Coast Montessori preschiools offer.
