If you are a typical American, it is more than likely that as you prepare for work, you are going to use a fair amount of toxic chemicals which are in your personal care products. So, the estimates are that you are exposing yourself to over a hundred toxic chemicals. The alarming news is that these are anything but all natural beauty products.

The fact is that when you leave the house, you have already damaged some of the organs, such as the heart, brain, liver and kidneys. Not a bad start to the day!

The mainstream cosmetic industry is doing everything in its power to persuade consumers that all the chemicals they use in their products are well within the safety limits. As these limits are not at all clear or even legally binding, one wonders what the truth really is. It is clear though that these could never be regarded as eco friendly beauty products.

The truth is that we do not need the chemically laden products which are cheap and cheerful at best. At worst, they are likely to have a cancer link. Just look at the list of chemicals which are still lurking in our personal care products.

Did you know that phthalates are still used in spite of there being a link with them and low sperm count in men? These phthalates are a sort of plasticizing agent and they are also linked to birth defects.

Then take the infamous toluene. This one is actually derived from coal tar and if we get too much of this, we can damage our liver and kidneys. As if that was not enough, it is also linked to anemia and can reduce the number of haemoglobin, the red cells, in our blood. There is also a link with a poorly developed foetus.

Did you know that musks are mostly chemically derived and there is no legal obligation to reveal what is in them? These are used in the so called fragrances and perfume which are all synthetically composed as well.

In any case, they are anything but all natural beauty products. They are protected too by the fact that the word 'fragrance' is considered to be a trade secret so this is another reason why the actual components are never revealed. But the damage they do is very real and there is now enough evidence to show that they can be responsible for skin irritation, and even cancer.

So, the best way to protect our health is to simply use all natural beauty products. We should be looking out for the following ingredients which can do wonders for our skin and will neither damage our health nor the environment. Look for these ingredients. Green tea is a powerful antioxidant. Honey is an effective antibacterial agent and jojoba oil can soften skin effectively. Then there is grapeseed oil, another powerful antioxidant which can hydrate the skin. These are the ingredients which have stood the test of time and will give much better results in the short term.

Once you find a company that is committed to using totally natural ingredients and which is also using GMP practices, you will begin to see great results. You will also be happy in the knowledge that you have made a contribution to saving the planet by using eco friendly beauty products.

You deserve much better than to be fobbed off with second best skincare products. Discover some really effective ingredients used in all natural beauty products. Robert Winterson has written extensively on natural skincare.
