How can 3D technology be used for marketing purposes? The most obvious is brand identity and logo design where companies promote their new image - entirely in 3D - to their existing customers. Plus they use this to attract new customers especially a younger demographic who are familiar with 3D technology as a result of gaming.

3D Integration

3D can be integrated with other forms of marketing as part of an overall strategy. Most people respond positively to this technology and are more than happy to engage with it.

Why not encourage your customers to be part of a 3D marketing experience? If you sell products on your website then have these as a series of 3D images which can only be viewed through a pair of 3D glasses. Send pairs of these glasses to your customers who will wear these to view your products from different angles.

Other options include having a 3D logo or a series of 3D designs in a brochure or other marketing material.

But 3D technology must be viewed as just one element in a planned marketing strategy along with Pay Per Click (PPC), Social Media, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Website Analytics. Combine it with these and other forms of marketing for a solid, integrated approach to customer attraction and retention.

The 3D walkthrough

The 'Walkthrough' is a common use of 3D technology in which the viewer is taken or 'walked' through a room or around a product. They are able to view this at different angles which helps promote an overall vision of the intended product or environment. This increases its effectiveness and appeal.

This is particularly useful as a visual update of a work in progress or the stages of a project. The customer or client can see each of these stages in the development cycle and provide feedback as and where necessary.

3D technology can be used to provide a realistic outcome to the customer and is difficult to beat. A good example of this technology is the adoption of it by Estate Agents as a means of enabling prospective buyers to walk through a desired property. This gives them a better overview of the property as compared to a static image.

Future of 3D

We associate 3D technology with the cinema but this is just one of several ways in which this technology can be used to reach out and immerse a new generation of consumers.
