Wind turbines for homes can be great projects, but you have to be careful to keep them from being an expensive time waster. It is easy to go into a project like this without really thinking things through and that is usually a major mistake. This is the way many people go about executing a project like this. They just don't take the time to really understand the details before they plow ahead.

These are the 3 things that you would be wise to consider before you put a lot of time into a wind turbines for homes project...

With the wind turbines for homes project do I have enough wind available on my property to sustain this project? This is by far the most important question that you will answer. If you really understand wind science, then you will know that you cannot expect your property to simply contain enough wind to make your project work without doing a little homework on your own to find out. These devices are very sensitive to the amount of wind energy you have available. In other words, if you don't have at least 6 miles an hour wind it is unlikely that you going to be able make enough power to satisfy you that you spent your money intelligently by buying the wind turbine device.

With this home wind turbine project would I be attempting to do something that would not be allowed by my local permitting process? Local governments love to slam a wind turbine projects. Even though you say, "it is for my home and who am I really affecting by putting this device up?", the way the government looks at it is whether or not your device will cause an uproar in the community. Even though you say this is on my private property and what business do they have tell me what I can do or cannot do, the fact is that you live in a community and other people have a right to not be visually bombarded by something that offends them. Therefore, it is smart to dig in and learn about your local community and their feelings or lack thereof regarding the home wind turbine.

With this wind device will I be purchasing something that will be reliable and last for years into the future? This is of course part of any analysis - that is, the longevity of the device you are buying.

If you are careful and answer these questions before you begin your wind turbines for homes project, you will stand a great chance of optimizing things and making the most power you can from your efforts.
