Windmill kits are great for your home but there are 3 big reasons that they may not work for you and you need to pay particular attention to these in your analysis. These 3 items are often overlooked but they can make a tremendous difference in the success or lack of success with a project like this where you are needing to get things right the first time versus the trial and error method which so many people gleefully employ, much to their chagrin.

Not enough wind where you live - This is a mistake that so many people unfortunately make on a daily basis when evaluating wind turbine products. They do not adequately check out how much wind velocity they have on their home real estate. Instead, they just hope things work out because they've seen wind blowing out their window. That however is not the case in most instances. You need to really check thoroughly to see whether you're going to have enough wind available to drive your wind turbine and make enough power to make this exercise worth your while.

Neighbors complain too much - If you happen to live in a neighborhood where the neighbors do not like wind turbines than you need to know that up front. It is pretty easy to find out if you ask your local government, or check out local community associations to find out if they have a position on wind turbines. Windmill kits can be the absolute the perfect solution for you, but if they annoy your neighbors they are not going to likely happen anyway so check things out before you again.

Permitting requirements are too strict - Many times local governments institute restrictions on what you can or cannot have on your land. For example, it is very difficult to place wind turbines very high up in the atmosphere without attracting the attention of some federal agencies, like the Federal Aviation Administration. They have a height restriction of 200 feet. That means that you cannot install your wind turbine over 200 feet up, even if the air up there is a lot better than the air anywhere else for making energy from the wind.

In conclusion, windmill kits can be great for the home but they might not work if you are not careful when considering these 3 potential problem areas. It is up to you to check these things out before you even think about looking on the Internet for a home wind turbine that could solve all of your home energy problems.
