You know when you tackle the subject of `Conversation` there are 10 things you must realize:

Let's put all these steps together, and you will readily see that it is truly easy to be known as a great conversationalist. You must realize that interesting conversation starters are all over the place - from the glaring headlines about some earth shaking event to the tedium of standing in a line too long. It really is just a matter of verbalizing your thoughts. What could be easier - if done in a casual friendly manner? Be Yourself.

Pithy comments may cause a stirring of interest - but don't rely on them. Their impact is short lived - and if not followed up by something meaningful could be a real stumbling block.

Having a list of topics often leads to an artificial aspect - if you can't really follow up with meaningful additional information.

Timing is important. To broach a subject that is totally inconsistent with the previous subject - or seems out of place at the moment - can really harm your `first impression` image.

Now, the above is a list of dangers - and pretty much what `not to do`. From this point, you should dwell on the positive list of `To Dos`.

First and foremost is Self-Confidence. This cannot be over emphasized. The reason is self-confidence carries the day in almost any circumstance. It handily trumps the `list` of topics to be discussed - as well as any number of clever opening lines. The question is how to attain Self-Confidence - not, is it important. It is not important, it is vital!

The answer for many is to take a course in conversation- which will include confidence building. Self Confidence is the one true answer to starting a conversation - more than any other solution.

Now, you couple `honesty` with self-confidence - and you have a winning combination. What is honesty in the subject of conversation? It is simply being true to your beliefs - and not taking a position contrary to your true convictions for the sake of `fitting in the conversation`.

Now - the subject of learning how to shrug your shoulders is interesting, and key to interesting conversation starters. How can this be? Well, as much as we would like to think that all people are good interesting wholesome people - it is no true. When you find boorish behavior - shrug your shoulders, and move on. It is not in your best interest to involve yourself in dialogue with this kind of individual. This is again where self-confidence comes into play. Have the self-confidence to walk away from that environment. You don't need it!

Remember, `interesting conversation starters` can be anything`, and that is so true. But, look at it another ways - and be interested yourself in `everything`.

You know the world is full of interesting topics - and we as individuals know only a sliver of them. Be open to subjects that others bring up - and listen with a honest interest - and a willingness to learn of a new subject - -- and just be listening - you will become known as a great conversationalist!
