I am writing this article assuming you have no (or very little) previous experience in Internet Marketing. However, there is a right way (and a wrong way) to go about this. Don't try to write a book before you know which Niche you will be marketing to. It's not much good writing a wonderful book only to find there's no-one out there who is interested - all because you didn't do your homework first.

So, first things first:

To sell online, you will need to have a product. Before you write your product you must decide which Niche you are interested in - and in order to achieve this, you need to make a list of things that you are good at, or know a lot about. Write down at least 50, or 100 if you can. If it helps, ask yourself these questions: What are your hobbies?

· Are you good at sports?
. Do you enjoy dancing?
· Are you good at DIY?
· Are you a good cook?
· Do you enjoy gardening?
· Do you read self-help books?
· Are you good with children?
· Do you paint? ... and so on

The above will give you ideas for your list. Once your list is complete, take a break and make a cup of coffee - then go back and read your list over. Now pick 10 of the things on your list that interest you most. Once you have your 10 choices, go online and Google them.

As an example, try the key word "dating" in your search. (Try several searches, just to compare) The higher the count, the better, as this shows how often people use the keyword when searching online - therefore this indicates a high demand during the month.

How did you do - what number has your keyword search thrown up? Several million I'll bet! So if you're interested in (say) a niche about relationships, you've got a great one here to capitalize on!

Now you can narrow your niche down a bit - you need to be a bit more specialized. It's the same as in the high street - you get many shops selling clothes, but then there are those shops that specialize in purely the "accessories" - you know, hats, scarves, gloves, bags, etc etc.

So perhaps you could start your business on giving "dating tips" - try it in your search. You can easily write articles, or short reports, on dating tips - a lot easier than running a dating service! You'll find once you start writing, you won't be able to stop. A good sign, if you follow me!

It pays to be more specific though - how about dating for Guys? I personally think that "dating tips" is still too general, but if you focus on "dating tips for Guys" you know very well that your prospects are all guys.

Then, after your articles on dating tips for guys have become exhausted, you could switch your Niche to "dating tips for Girls" or "dating tips for Seniors" or perhaps "speed dating tips". It's really down to you to expand your Niche in every way possible.

You'll really need to be focusing on "tips" because the truth is you cannot be "everything" - not at this stage anyway. One step at a time, that's my motto. So if you can decide on what Niche you want to cater to today, that's the best way to start.

I know that ultimately you'll want to resell products with Resell Rights. However, meeting the demand comes first, not the product. If people are not looking for the information found in your product, it cannot sell anyway. To be successful in selling anything, you have to know that people are actively searching for your niche product BEFORE you write your book.
