For hundreds of years people have been fascinated with the ability of being able to move things with one's mind. The belief that someone can move or influence inanimate objects through mental process is known as telekinesis. This article will discuss the training, possibilities, and process of how to move things with your mind.

Telekinesis has long been a popular fixture in American culture. The general belief held by those who practice telekinesis is that if a person fixates their mind on an object, then a visible physical effect can be created. This belief is often reflected in popular culture, such as the spoon bending child in the film The Matrix. Others believe that the mind can change the probability of something happening, such as causing dice to land on certain numbers. Proponents say that you can be "trained" on how to move things with your mind by following some simple techniques.

It is important for your mind to be relaxed and clear of any interfering thoughts. Your mind should be in a state that resembles meditation, being both focused and undistracted. This is one of the most important parts of the training, since it will be impossible to achieve the effects of telekinesis if a state of mental focus is not reached. This is also one of the most difficult parts of the training since it can take days or weeks to learn, and years to master.

Once a state of focus can be reached with ease, the next step is to focus your mental energy on the object you are trying to move. Once you have envisioned yourself and your goal, a daily training routine should be developed. This could be rolling dice and trying to change the numbers they land on, controlling which way the fire on a candle blows, or causing a small house of cards to collapse. Once these training exercises can be done, you may be ready to move on to more ambitious goals such as moving larger objects or causing yourself and items to "levitate," or float in the air.

Other ways to look at telekinesis is to imagine your self moving the space around an object, as oppose to the object itself. It is important to remember that it is your mind that is in control, and not to let other thoughts penetrate during the process. Training can also be done with a partner, such as having them hold up a card with its back facing you while you guess what number and suit the card is.

Like anything else worth learning, the ability to move things with your mind takes practice. A training schedule should be set up and followed regularly for best results, and any successful telekinesis program should begin with a clear mind. Whether you train on your own or with a partner, remember that practice makes perfect.
