Motorola's new Stature i9 is designed like the RAZR 2 and has features that may seem similar. Surprisingly, this phone has emerged as one of the best multimedia phones in the market today.

The Motorola Stature i9 has a sleek angular design, feels comfortable and is sturdy. The front of the phone has a soft touch material and a shiny front which is very attractive, though it attracts smudges. The display screen is large and very colorful, it supports 262000 colors. The display is bright and it shows time, date, battery life, signal and a numeric caller id. The best aspect of this phone is that you can navigate through all the application and menu options without even opening the flip.

On the phone's exterior are a volume rocker, PTT button, MicroUSB charging port and a speaker voice dialing control on the left side. On the right side there is a camera shutter, a hand locking button and a control that activates the menu on the external display. Behind the battery cover there is a microSD card slot. While all these features are placed conveniently, the camera lens and flash are very inconveniently located on the top left hand corner behind the phone. The problem being, that is exactly where most people rest their fingers.

The internal display is of the same size and resolution as the one on the outside. The menu offers too many sub-menus making it taxing to perform basic tasks such as shooting a picture or sending an MMS. Also, if you are in a sub-menu and exit, it will take you back to standby mode instead of going to the Main Menu.

The Motorola i9 has a music player that supports album art, shuffle and repeat modes and it's extremely easy to add music to the phone by using the USB, Bluetooth or a memory card. Other key features include stereo Bluetooth, application manager, voice recorder, PC syncing, voice dialing and voice commands. The only high end feature that the phone lacks is a GPS application.

The 3.1 megapixel camera provides seven resolutions, highest being 2,048 x 1,536 and there on down to 320 x 240. There are many editing options which are also available on the camcorder. The internal memory is 128 MB and by using the microSD slot it can be extended up to 8 GB.

Overall, the phone has a great design, essential features and the call quality is very good. On the downside, the camera is slow and photo quality is mediocre.
