The Samsung Instinct is the very stylish touch screen smart phone by Samsung with the slogan being 'The Instinct is so advanced, it practically predicts your needs'.

The design of the Instinct is very 'basic' if you like, but that's what seems to make it so stylish - the front has a plain panel with a 240x432 touch screen displaying 262k colors and 3 basic buttons, and is very thin (only 12.5mm thick). The phone is available in silver or pink. The rear of the phone is also very basic with just a simple, black finish and a small camera at the top. This camera, like most touch screen phones, isn't as advanced as you may like - only 2MP and doesn't have flash or autofocus, but does manage digital zoom. Video recording is available also.

Internal memory on the phone is poor - only 32Mb - but Samsung seem to have realised this and a 2Gb microSD card comes with every purchase. If this still isn't big enough for you, you can replace this card with another microSD up to a maximum supported size of 8Gb.

Although without WiFi, the Instinct does have a fast 3G connection with a full HTML web browser that can be used for viewing regular web pages. It also has built in GPS to help you find your way with the growing use of SatNav applications becoming available for such phones like Google Maps Mobile. As for stamina, talk time is a fairly average at 5.75 hours, but that will still manage a very long phone call!

The music player supports the formats you are most likely to need out of a phone - MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA. WMA support is handy as it means that CDs ripped into Windows Media Player will be compatible with this device. There is, of course, a 3.5mm jack for you to listen to your tunes from, and a USB connection for quick and easy transfer of your music to your phone. Video playback supports both MPEG4 and H.264 formats which should be enough to satisfy the majority of users.

The Samsung Instinct; a very well balanced, all-round phone - it's stylish, it's easy to use, it's professional for business use, and its got enough features to impress someone keen on technology. If you're looking at buying a good touch screen phone that's value-for-money, you should consider this as a serious option.
