You are an original - a one of a kind. You are a masterpiece, with an unrepeatable opportunity to create and become what has never been before. The knowledge, tools, and insights to excel are readily available. The task ahead of you is both exhilarating and daunting, but the way to succeed is not by accident.

Tommy Newbury, in "Success Is Not An Accident", provides the simple, straightforward and workable tactics, techniques and procedures to thrive and succeed in a hectic, dynamic world. No one plans to be mediocre, rather mediocrity is the result of no plan. You choose where you go, and who you become. By changing your choices, you change your life.

Success is absolutely predictable. This is a "cause and effect" world. Unwavering principles govern every area of life. By focusing on the basics you make success happen. As Emerson once said, 'By law and not by luck, what one sows one reaps.'

Tommy offers seven important lessons to allow you to take control of your life. The first is a challenge to choose success. Ultimately success is measured at the end - you must work hard and never give up. The essence of success is to go somewhere worthwhile. You have to define that destination for yourself. To "know" where you are headed is to abide by the law.

You are pure potential. You are meant to succeed. There are no alibis. There are no justifiable excuses. You have no one to convince and no one to blame. The world is an action space. You have to be willing to act; you have to be willing to do. Don't wait to feel like acting - act and adjust by feeling.

As you journey through life you become. Are you becoming by design or disaster? Are you in control or are you reacting to life?

You must be clear on who you are becoming and what you aspire to. You are sure to get something - why not make it stupendous. Define your dream - flesh it out in every detail. The more splendid the dream, the more motivation it will require. Nothing in life is free; every effect has a cause. You must cause your dream to become a reality. You must pay the price.

Motivation is in thoughts and words, but the real energy of achievement is in action. Write down simple, clear, compelling goals. These goals will serve as an enduring reference to keep the energy of action moving in the right direction. Goal setting is a skill. Defining your goals will help you assume complete and total responsibility for achieving them.

Live intentionally. Decide if your intend to achieve extreme success or just to avoid catastrophic failure. Your decision matters.

Managing time is a misnomer - you manage yourself. You can't make more time, only better choices on how to use the time you have. Deliberately manage yourself so as to enhance the quality and balance of your life. You need the right aim and deliberate focus. If you want to make things better make yourself better. Develop and reinforce successful habits.

Work on improving your beliefs. Minimize the use of negative words. Eliminate negative thoughts. Condition yourself for success. Remember every effect has a cause. Employ only good causes - things that advance you toward your goal. Think about, focus on producing positive results. Gaining control of your thoughts is the most challenging and rewarding single task you can accomplish. You become free only when you are in charge of your own script.

Discipline your mind. Positive results follow positive mental pictures. Your subconscious mind is the gateway to your long term success. Feed your subconscious with contagiously happy images of your goal: who you are becoming and where you are headed. Visualize "as if" you have arrived - as if you have achieved your goal.

Life is a constant manipulation of energy. To optimize your performance adopt a healthy, energetic lifestyle. Neglect is a silent killer, so allocate time to care for yourself. Health and fitness are essential components of a successful life. Start with your attitude. Exercise regularly. Control stress. Eat healthy and rest adequately. The more energy you have, the more energy you can direct toward fulfilling your goals.

You change tomorrow by what you do today. Make the right choice. Focus on a worthwhile target - something challenging, something thrilling, something doable - then make it happen. Life is rich with choices. Choose to succeed. Success is not an accident.
