The bathroom is certainly one of the rooms in your house that you need to regularly maintain. There's not much chance of getting by without a fully functioning shower and toilet. It is important to keep them clean and make sure that they aren't wasting water because of a leak or water dripping onto the ground which could result in mold or rot. Nowadays there is a wonderful array of designs of fixtures to choose from when you need to replace an item in your bathroom. However, you do need to make sure before purchasing them that they will do the job required, and that they are easy to use and maintain many years into the future. I have to admit I couldn't do without my shower, especially first thing in the morning. It helps me to wake up, wash away the cobwebs of my sleep, and face the day with a smile on my face. That is why I make sure it is working well because I never want to get into the shower and only get cold water, or a low pressure dribble. There won't be much of a smile when that happens.

First things first, and addressing the most grimy of tasks, you will get a blockage in your shower at some stage unless you are completely hairless all over. Every time we have a shower some of our hair will be rubbed off and it will gather under the cover of the shower where, hopefully, you have some sort of grate. Hair combines with soap to make an unpleasant glob which I doubt anyone likes clearing away. But it is essential to do so as regularly as you can face it so that it doesn't manage to get down into the drain and cause a serious blockage. Try not to wait until the water is up around your ankles before you empty it, but clear it away as part of your regular bathroom routine.

Then have a look at your shower recess. It is important that the door seal is not broken so that water is not potentially seeping down under the tiles to cause mold and rot to develop. Reseal it immediately and check whether the water may have caused any damage.

The shower screen is built to be robust and last up to twenty years, a long time for any design feature, and one which you will probably want to replace at some time unless you are a firm believer in fashions coming round again, when it will eventually be admired once more as the latest trend.

If your house has had the joy of young children, however, it may not take the change of fashions to force you to replace the screen or recess. The glass may get cracked or the frames that hold the glass could have worked themselves loose. You may wish to replace these yourselves, and if you decide to do so, then I recommend that you look at the simpler designs as those with curved or frameless glass screens should probably be installed by a contractor.

It may be that you have an older screen which was made out of enamel. Screens now are made of laminated or toughened glass because it was found that enamel screens were able to scratch and mark too easily.

Do be aware, before you purchase your new door, that it may only be catching because the tracks need a good clean and lubrication. To do this you will need to take off the door panels, but do be aware that they can be very heavy, so you may require some assistance.

  • Power Dressing For Men (Tate Smith)
We often associate power dressing with women but this look has appeared again on the catwalks only this time for men. Italian tailored suits, leather and cufflinks: country tweeds, double breasted coats and technical fabrics: these are all about money, power and hyper-masculinity.

  • Water Filtration Systems And Their Installation (Keith Pollow)
Toxic chemical compounds, heavy metals, bacteria, and other pollutants contaminate water sources which expose us to diseases and illnesses that can be life threatening such as developing cancer or another serious health condition.

You can't beat the countryside for fresh air and exercise but it is important to be dressed appropriately if you want to avoid the 'townie' label. A serviceable jacket, jeans, boots and a piece of men's jewelry such as sports watch are both practical and rugged. But why not consider a leather Harrington jacket and cargo pants, rollneck jumper and cords or a classic military coat and black skinny jeans.

It is difficult to look smart and up to the minute when your disposable income has dropped and unemployment looms. But it is possible to dress well on a budget. A slim fitting suit, white shirt and tie with cheap designer cufflinks still looks the part and hides the fact that tough times lie ahead.

Men can have a problem finding jeans to suit them and when they do, there is the additional problem of choosing suitable mens accessories to add that little bit extra. But find a great pair of jeans and you can look like a million dollars.
