A baby's first birthday is a special event and should definitely be celebrated in style. Finding the best first birthday party supplies is the initial step to making the day fun for all. There are many different kinds of party supplies to choose from the simple to more extravagant themes. Remember that a one year old does not always know exactly what all the fuss is for, so keeping the party supplies sweet and simple is probably the best way to go.

Decide on a Theme

If you have a special character or theme that your baby loves then by all means use that for the party. Most every character on television that little kids enjoy can be found in birthday party supplies. Look in department stores or online for supplies such as paper plates, napkins, cups and assorted decorations to fit the theme. If you cannot find a particular character, then consider using your child's stuffed toy version of the character as the central decoration and then use color coordinated supplies and decorations to match. You can also use a broad theme such as 'puppies' or 'butterflies' and make your own decorations.

Birthday Party Invitations

Look for invitations that match your selected theme or at least go along with it. Just like party supplies, there are tons of themes available at party supply stores both online and in stores locally. Now days, the common use of social networks like Facebook, have made it easy for parents to send mass invitations to friends and family online, however, having a genuine party invitation to keep is the best way to go. Mail out or deliver the invitations about two weeks prior to the party date.

Tasty Birthday Party Refreshments

Preparing the refreshments for your baby's first birthday should not be a complicated process. Plan on food and drinks that will be enjoyed by both the kids and the grown ups. Avoid messy foods that require help from adults for the little ones to eat and select easy finger foods that the babys can feed themselves. Little guys love chicken nuggets, fish sticks, hamburgers and simple cheese pizza. A nice healthy veggie and fruit tray with some yummy cheese sticks will be perfect for a birthday party of this sort. Also, consider having sippy cups already filled for the little kids with a non staining juice to avoid messes.

First Birthday Cake

Your baby's first birthday cake is a big deal for most parents. Obviously, if you have a special theme selected then either make or order a cake with that theme. You can find theme cake pans in a multitude of characters if you want to make it yourself. If baking is not your thing, then check with your local super store bakery and have a beautiful character cake made. Typically, they require at least forty eight hours notice with a down payment. Cupcakes too are now a popular way to delight little kids at a party. Bakeries can arrange colorful cupcakes to suite your chosen theme as well.

Your baby's first birthday is a wonderful event for your family and friends alike. Be sure to plan well in advance and give yourself plenty of time to get everything done without having to stress out the day of the party. Keep everything simple and always remember that children of this age will tire easily, so be prepared for potential melt downs by having adequate adult help.
