My First Angel Rescue

Angels assist humans physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Their efforts work at the most basic level, healing the deepest anguish of the human heart. When an invisible Presence comforts us, we feel less alone. We are always being watched whether we are aware of this truth or not. Have you noticed how angels always appear tall, young and exquisitely beautiful? When I was quite young, three female angels appeared in my bedroom quite unexpectedly. At the time, all I could think about was the desire to look as perfect as they did. I did not see angels again until after I was married and out cross-country skiing with one of my sons.

It had been snowing all day and the trail was not marked. At the end of the long day our bodies were cold and the location confusing. We had, on a whim, chosen to blaze new trails and as a result, lost our way. Physically we were isolated in an emergency situation and it was fast becoming dark. Without an available flashlight, matches or a whistle, I remembered how the three angels had appeared to me in a peaceful situation years previously. Why not call on them now when we are frightened, frozen and have no clue as to our location?

We were totally alone, no one in sight and we desparately needed to be rescued. Once I called out for help, no cell phone at that time, two figures appeared across a great field of snow motioning us to follow them. Patiently they waited as I fell several times out of sheer exhaustion. The trails were covered with snow and darkness had fallen. The journey back to the ski shack was a long one. As we approached a familiar area, I mentioned this fact to my son. As soon as I expressed that I recognized the area, the two rescue angels vanished.

Our car was the only one left by the ski shack. It was dark and no other people had been seen on the trek back to safety and warmth. I called out to the sky, "Thank you for saving our lives!" Yes, we would have been terrified by the wild dogs roaming in the areas as mentioned in the next day's local paper, as well as suffering and possible death resulting from the intense cold. The next day when I notified authorities as to what had happened, the ski official remarked that we had wandered at least a couple miles off course.

I have been personally rescued more than once. What was so interesting in this particular incident is that the male and female angel looked human. They never spoke to us nor did they come close to us. They simply kept their distance, paused when I was tired or fell, and patiently waited. The assignment was to lead us back to the shack and the parking lot. Both places were empty except for my lone car covered with the falling snow.

As we strengthen our connection with angels, the greater the help received. People throughout history and in our present day world have recorded thousands of remarkable encounters. It appears to me that they are designated for every type of situation. The secret, besides a firm belief in divine intervention, is to establish a respect for heavenly help when we are experiencing good times. When we then need help in moments that are not good, reach out as I did and they will come. Angels are here in our midst. They are willing to help us. Angels are friends, not personal servants to whom we can give orders. Their guidance and support is not to be taken lightly; it is something to rejoice in and to give thanks for.
