Many homeowners, when they think about installing a fence, consider a lot of different options. They look at vinyl, wood, aluminum, wrought iron, and chain link. But there is one material that often gets overlooked, and that is bamboo. In many ways, it is better than all of them. Bamboo Fencing is environmentally friendly, stronger than steel, resistant to rust, breakage, and termites, and able to withstand earthquakes and hurricane force winds. It is easy to install and restore, and when properly processed will last for decades. But in spite of all of these things, it is cheaper than most other fencing material.

Bamboo is one of the most renewable resources on the Earth. Because it is a grass rather than a tree, it does not die when it is cut down. And in contrast to wood, which takes 30 to 50 years to regrow, it regenerates completely within three years. This makes bamboo fences much better for the environment than wooden privacy fences. Also, unlike petroleum-based vinyl fences, they are made of a natural product which does not require any harsh manufacturing techniques.

The strength of bamboo has been well proven. It is two to three to three times stronger than wood and has a higher tensile strength than steel. Bamboo Fencing has been known to remain standing after earthquakes, hurricanes, blizzards, and even car crashes. Bamboo is coated with a waxy material that is naturally water-resistant, so it can endure all types of weather better than wood. It will also not become brittle in the sun like vinyl, rust like iron, or dent like aluminum. However, all of this strength comes in a package that is surprisingly lightweight, which can't be said of wrought iron or steel.

Bamboo is a beautiful material, and no two pieces are alike. So unlike chain link fences, which all look the same, bamboo fences are varied and interesting, full of unusual textures and tropical elegance. It is even possible to get this look without installing an entire fence, because Bamboo Fencing can be placed over existing fencing. This is something you can't do with any other material. Additionally, the slats on this type of fence can be placed very close together, which provides much more privacy than chain link or wrought iron fences.

You would expect a material with so many advantages to be extremely expensive, but that isn't the case. Bamboo fences are cheaper than aluminum fences, wrought iron fences, or chain link fences. They are also quite easy to install. They do not require a professional like wrought iron does or special tools like aluminum. An enterprising homeowner might even be able to do the job himself. These fences are also simple to restore. When they begin to take on a grayish tone as they age, all that is required is a coat of weather-resistant stain to bring them back to the state that they were when they were first installed.

Bamboo is becoming more and more popular as a fencing material, especially among those who are environmentally conscious. But as you can see, the advantages of this wonderful woody grass are far more just being a green building material. Bamboo Fencing is for everyone.

There are two major advantages of installing a fence. One is privacy, the other is security. Although this is true for all fencing options, there are still varying degrees of privacy and security you get from each different type of fence.
