This helps to be able to keep the scoring accurate as to which side actually made a point and there is less confusion for the refs to be able to keep score of the game and keep penalties to a minimum. Although there are choices of the colors that the goalies can choose from for the team, they are limited to the ones that they can pick from. The colors started way back in 1909 and they were able to pick from scarlet and royal blue. Of course, as time went on, it was decided that the color green should be added to the choices to choose from in 1912. Although it can get cold when the teams are playing, you will generally see that the players are wearing shirts that are short sleeved for the game. Running around for hours tends to keep you warm so you are not thinking too much about the weather. But, when you are the goalie, you tend to stand around more and the weather can become a factor. For this reason, goalies would wear sweaters as opposed to the soccer goalie jersey in order to keep them warm and to stave off the cold weather while they are playing. Of course now there are jerseys that are long sleeved so they no longer need to wear the sweaters in order to keep their bodies comfortable during the game. For the warmer days, there are the short sleeved shirts that they can wear as well. You are also going to find now that you can design the soccer goalie jersey that you want for your goalie and you can pick from many different colors. There are neon colors, yellow, red, magenta, turquoise and even orange. This gives you options to choose from so that they can match the rest of the team. Regardless of the style of soccer goalie jersey that you decide to go with, it is important for the goalie to be comfortable so that they can move the way that they need to in order to protect the goal and keep the other team from scoring. You also want to make sure that it fits properly in order to keep them moving as well. And, no matter which one you pick, they will always have the number one on the back of their shirt.
