In the olden days, if you wrote a book and wanted to market it, you needed to go on a cross country tour doing appearances at various bookstores.

Not many modern day authors have the time or money to do that kind of old school book publicity, but thankfully, with the advent of the internet, authors around the globe have a book publicity tool that:

*Creates worldwide exposure for your book

*Attracts exactly the type of people who would be interested in buying your book

*Increases book sales

*Is proven to be effective

*Creates long lasting results

*Is easy to do (no technical knowledge needed at all!)

*Can be done from the privacy of your own home

*Works great with ebooks

*And to top it all off, it's FREE!

Yes, it's Article Marketing--authors who are aware of the power of the internet use article submissions as one of their main book publicity tools.

Here's how:

1) Create and submit articles.

This is the easiest part of the whole process, because in your ebook you have a handy library of articles just waiting to be assembled. The content of your book can be the basis for all of your articles, so you don't have to write articles from scratch--that's a major time saver!

You'll just need to make a few tweaks--

*Trim the content to be the correct length. Articles have word count limits that usually range anywhere from 400 words to 1500 words. When you're using the content from your book to create articles, you'll need to be sure that it fits within those boundaries.

*So, you will need to trim a bit, and that means that you'll also need to add an opening and closing paragraph so that the information in the article looks polished and not like it was just lifted from your book.

And just so you know, in your article body and your title you will not mention anything about your book--just provide the reader with useful information such as they would find in your book.

The resource box is the appropriate place to mention your ebook.

2) Create your resource box.

The resource box is very similar to an "author bio". The resource box will accompany your article every time it's republished, so every time someone reads your article, they will be able to look below your article and see information about the author.

In submitting articles to market a book, your resource box should contain these elements:

*Tell your name and a little bio info.

*Tell the name of your book and mention that the article was excerpted from your book.

*Give the reader a reason to go to your website (more on this later).

*Provide your website URL (readers will be able to click the website address and be taken to your website).

In order to inspire a reader to click the link in your resource box, it's effective to offer some sort of bonus or incentive that will be waiting for the person at your website.

One easy thing you might try is offering the first 30 or so pages of your ebook as a free download at your site. At the end of the free preview, you could provide a link to the website where your book is sold. This could be the sales page on your own site, or if your book is a traditional hard copy, you could even link to the sales page on Amazon.com where your book is sold using your Amazon affiliate link.

Providing the first 30 pages as a free preview gives the reader of your article a strong incentive to click the link leading to your website, and it gives them a better taste of the value you're offering in your book.

3) Okay, so your resource box links back to your website, so at your website you need to have a sign up box where the reader can give their email address. Remember, the reason why the reader is giving you their email address is so that they can receive whatever bonus you're offering. Once you have their email address, you can follow up via email to sell the book.

If you submit articles consistently each month, within 4-5 months you will start to see an increase in traffic to your site. Ideally, you would continue to submit articles for as long as you wished to drive traffic to your website.

Selling an ebook by submitting articles is effective and entirely doable! You don't need to have any advanced knowledge of the internet or SEO tactics--just follow the steps listed here and submit your articles, and you'll start to see excellent results in just a few months time.
