Hypnotherapy was first practiced by analysts in the late 19th century. One of the most popular practitioners of this form was Sigmund Freud who believed that through hypnosis, one could go to the different levels of one's persona : the Ego, the Id, and the Super ego. Though its more popular name, hypnosis, was used by many magicians from centuries back to conjure people to levitate, do odd things, and other actions to please a marveled audience, most experts and historians believed that that person hypnotized during those days were part of the act and were "co-conspirators" with the illusionists.

Losing weight through hypnosis or hypnotherapy weight loss is a program worth taking a look at especially if other methods seem to fail. It is best to consult your physician before hand to see if this method is applicable to you. Though there are no harsh side effects of hypnotherapy weight loss, it is indeed something of an experience to be induced into such a program.

My sessions of the hypnotherapy weight loss program started with a meeting with the therapist wherein we took measurements and then started with a baseline of my situation, what needed to be done and how long we would measure it. In my case, I had a sweet tooth or a craving for sweets which led me to high blood sugar levels, or almost being a candidate for Type 2 Diabetes. I also wanted to lose an additional twenty pounds and since I was fairly active in sports, which would not be a problem for me.

After another session, it was agreed that I could be an active participant in this hypnotherapy weight loss system in the sense that I had enough internal motivation to invoke my own subconscious into rejecting any sweets. What I had to do was to be given a "safe" word, much like in the movies or television shows that involved espionage plots, but this would trigger a response albeit an aversion to sweets.

The first test came a week later with a family gathering. My aunt was known for her famous desserts and it so happened that she had made a batch of irresistible crepe samurai. I knew that I was salivating and so wanted to at least taste it. So I said the safe word. Suddenly, I felt full and somehow had a dislike for the dessert. I didn't even like the smell and look of it. Hypnotherapy weight loss was amazing because the whole night, I did not eat any of the sweets.
