The History of Dodge Trucks

It surprises many authoritative automotive buffs to discover that in the history of the American domestic auto industry that the "Dodge Brothers" actually created what became a major American icon and the Chrysler Corporation. Then again if Henry Ford was the stalwart behind the Ford Motor and Ford Industrial Empire why should this be all too surprising? The dynamos behind this industry, much like the American movie industry and Hollywood were individual characters hard driven people with a mission and a business plan in their minds. The innovators, entrepreneurs and Bill Gate's of their days and time period. The History Dodge Trucks is very interesting. The Dodge brothers worked hard and helped build all the parts that were placed on the first Ford Model T that came onto the market in 1914 which was sold as a 1915.

After the Ford Model T was such as popular hit they were instantly famous. So the brothers decided to take what they had learned and build things bigger and better. They of course became so popular that people started begging them for light trucks but they kept refusing because they couldn't keep up with the high demands.

During the World War I the government approached the brothers and asked if they could supply them with over 20 thousand chassis, ambulances and half ton trucks so the military could use them they proudly agreed.

From that point everything kept evolving for the brothers; they turned the ambulance into a car by changing the design and everything they had made for the government was quickly redesigned for the market into something else such as cars and trucks.

They then turned to the Graham brothers and entered into an agreement with them that if they supplied the parts the Grahams would build the vehicles in their garages which was agreed upon. The first truck was a 1 and a ton pick-up truck and sold for approximately $1345. 00. Wow! Don't we wish it was like that now!

Obviously the history of Dodge has greatly evolved into what we have today. The accessories are endless, there are hundreds of features and the designs are changing every day. The price tag is affordable but nothing like it was back in the early 1900s. Everyone has their preference on what they like better rather it is a Dodge or Ford but remember the first car was both; Dodge parts and a Ford name.
