As the world's economy continues to struggle, more and more individuals who have been forced out of their regular employment, are turning to other options. Many of them are becoming self-employed by starting new businesses or companies. While this proves the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well, in most cases, start-up capital or funds are usually limited to a very tight budget. This can be one of the major stumbling blocks for any business just starting up.

Obviously, these individuals are looking for any angle or route which will save them money, perhaps even money they simply don't have in the first place. One solution for many of these cash-strapped start-ups is simply turning to the virtual world for an answer. This is a logical step since our day-to-day lives have become increasingly automatized and computerized, especially when it comes to communications. New tech gadgets and gizmos are hitting the market almost daily and it seems like everyone on the planet now has a smart phone.

It's in this computer obsessed world that using a virtual PBX system is a viable option. PBX stands for "Private Branch Exchange" and refers to a system of controlling all your communications coming into your organization. Many picture an image of an old telephone operator who manually connected phone lines on an exchange board in the not so distant past.

Virtual PBX simply means that control board is handled online or in cyber space. However, unlike those old telephone operators, these virtual exchanges are extremely sophisticated and totally modern. A virtual PBX service can be very complex, handling a whole number of tasks such as call forwarding, voice mail, online fax and even a virtual receptionist to handle all your calls and messages. Actually, all your phone communications and services, can be handled by a third party provider which can be located thousands of miles from your business.

Why is using Virtual PBX the right solution?

Cost, it basically comes down to the low costs of using an online PBX system for your company. Compared to hiring a real receptionist, installing all the phone lines/hardware... using a virtual solution is relatively cheap. Especially when you're just starting up a company, this cheaper alternative or route is definitely the right option for most companies.

Time is another consideration. Setting up a virtual PBX can be done in a matter of minutes and as we all know, time is money. There are many very high quality affordable PBX service providers which you can choose from on the web. Signing up for phone services, including a PBX system, can be done easily and without any hassles.

Lastly, even if money or funds may be limited, any new company or business can project a "big company" image by going with a virtual PBX solution. You want your company to project a professional image with the first contact and an online PBX can do that immediately. Plus, this also connects all your phone calls, messages, faxes... directly into your computer network which will make it much more easier to file and find all your messages.

So if you're just starting a business or company, using a virtual PBX as your front office, can be a very affordable option to take. One that will not only make your company run more efficiently, but a solution which will project a professional image to all your potential clients and customers. Many new businesses are going this virtual route, but like all business decisions, it's your call.
