Filling our your Police Application will be an important step for you to take but it is not very difficult. There is, however, an important requirement that you will need to consider first which is the minimum age requirement. Most police departments will allow their applicants to be at least twenty-one but some may even consider those who are nineteen to make application to their police academies.

When you have determined that you meet all the criteria for the police department that you are interested in applying it will be easy to fill out the application. Each police department does have a little different requirements but the following describes the items that they will all want you to provide.

The police application is almost the same as filling out any employment application. You will need to supply all your personal information in detail being sure to give correct and up to date information. Besides the personal identification information be sure to include really good information about contacting you including your mailing address and your main e-mail address with all your phone numbers.

Your personal information will be your social security number, your full name and gender, your birth date, and your driver's license number. All the names of organizations and clubs you have belonged to for the last decade will be important. You will also need to go back a decade for your employment history or the latest if you cannot go back ten years. The address and phone numbers of your last employment will be necessary.

Any military experience will need to be included with the dates that you served and the branch you served under. Also, remember to list all the police related experiences and training that you received with your military or other employment including security.

Begin describing your educational background with the most recent college or school you attended and list any diplomas, certificates or degrees and the dates you attended. The type of degree or certificate should be listed even if you didn't finish the courses plus the major that you were using.

After you have filled out the entire application you will need to attach a copy of your social security card, your birth certificate, and an official copy of your driver's license, a copy of your high school diploma, any certificates and college degrees plus any other kinds of documentation that may be requested. There is a small fee for submitting your police application that is commonly between twenty and forty dollars.

By signing your application you will be documenting that the information on the application is filled out as correctly as possible. The application will be then sent to the address which is probably listed on the bottom of the police application form. Make sure you have made a copy of the application before you mail it out.
