The least favorite part of the body is the belly. The reasons for the belly fat may surprise you. It is not only about eating unhealthy foods, although it is a major contributor.

Lack of sleep and stress play large roles in the growing belly as well. When people are under a great deal of stress, they tend to eat more comfort foods or convenient foods. Most of these foods contain trans fats, which are the bad fats that cause many health problems if consumed in large quantities.

It is also proven that people who sleep less than 8 1/2 hours a night tend to be overweight as well. Our bodies need time to rest to keep the body systems effective. With the busy schedules of everyone today, exercise is taking a backseat to overtime.

If you want to lose belly fat, you will have to make some changes. Finding time to make the changes is going to be the trick. You should get regular exercise. It is not only good for the body, but good for the mind. Exercising reduces stress. Stress leads to all sorts of health problems, including the bulging belly. Walking 15 minutes three to four times a day, will help re-energize your body and your mind.

Eating healthier is another way to lose belly fat. Choose from each portion of the food group. Keep track of your calories and be sure to leave out the vending machine. You should buy healthy snacks at the store and keep them with you all of the time. That way, when the urge hits you, you can munch on something that is a better choice. You will be thankful later, and it will make your body look better, too.

Drink plenty of water. If you drink six to eight glasses of water a day, you will be less hungry and therefore, will eat less. Water is a necessity for your body to keep your systems running smoothly. If you walk daily and drink water while you are walking, you will lose weight in a healthy way.

Lastly, getting a good night's sleep is important. Don't drink caffeine or have too much to eat before bedtime. Your body will stay up late digesting all of the food if consumed later. Caffeine will interrupt your sleep as well. Better choices of food, drinking plenty of water, getting exercise and sleeping well will help you lose belly fat.
