Once the card is produced the family sends out the card to those who couldn't make it to the funeral. The cards can also be a keepsake that many people treasure long after they have received it. In Ireland normally the family produce the memorial cards around a month after the person has passed away. some people choose to make the cards themselves, and some people choose to have them produced professionally, in recent years websites have developed the ability to have a product range which customers can select one and customize it and order the volume they would like to purchase.
A memorial card is something that most people do not want to produce but it does help them in dealing with the death of the loved one. It provokes memories and requires the bereaved to Choose a picture. Making sure it's a flattering picture of the deceased. Since the photo will always be a reminder of the deceased's life, you should always use a picture from when the deceased was healthy. Choose a picture which is light, preferably taken outdoors, which will show better skin tones.
The memorial card almost always contains a bible verse or poem that was a favorite of the deceased. Next to the picture, the phrase "In Loving Memory" or “in Remembrance” the full name of the deceased, along with her birthdate and date of death.
Always remember to design the piece so it look well, remember not to make the piece too design conscious as this will date the piece. People will want to hold onto the memorial card for many years. Print the cards. Since memorial cards are treasured for years, don't use regular printer stock, Print on card or opt for paper that's a little thicker. I always recommend you print in full colour -which makes the memorial card more beautiful.
An even better solution is to laminate the cards. Laminating is not necessary but when creating a memorial it may help the piece last longer. However if the card design is a small page size laminating the card will not give a great result and the card will spring opne when folded. Laminating protects the card from being soiled by water or other spilled liquid, and prevents tearing and frayed edges over time. But its always a good ides to think of where it will be sent to, if you have friends in a hot climate the card could fade over time and then you really should use digitla printing.
At Memorial Cards we have created a website whereby the process of ordering beautifully professionally printed memorial pieces is simple and straightforward. Designing and printing a memorial piece to celebrate the life of loved one can be a difficult and emotional task. Our products can be ordered online in a few easy steps from the comfort of your own home at a time which suits you.
