If you already have a money-making website wouldn't it be wonderful if you could multiple your income exponentially? If you're still working on your first website would you like to have a roadmap of where to go once it's up and running? If you answered "yes" to either of these questions and you would like to get more top search engine rankings and dominate your niche then you will want to read this article.

The following approach will work in most niches. However, if your niche is ultra-competitive, such as if it's in the Internet Marketing niche, it will certainly be more of a challenge.

For a moment let's assume that you would like to dominate a semi-competitive niche such as bass fishing and your first website about bass fishing is cranking out the profits. Prior to building that site you did your research and found dozens of keywords that have at least 50 searches per day and relatively little competition.

The less competition you have for your chosen keyword the easier it will be to get a top ten ranking. You can get a good feel for the competition by determining the Page Rank of the top ten sites for that specific keyword, how well the site is optimized, and the number and quality of the backlinks that are going to those websites.

It is much easier to dominate a niche that has competitive sites with few or no backlinks than it is to go head to head in an area where each of the top ten websites has hundreds, if not thousands of backlinks. You will also find it easier to compete with websites have a PR (Page Rank) of three or less.

If you want to build a bass fishing empire your next step is to see if there are either dot com, dot org, or dot net domain names available that are made up of the exact keywords you have found.

If you find a substantial number are still up for grabs, the next thing you will want to do is buy and register all of the domain names that you have discovered that are related to the bass fishing niche.

Once you have done that you can create a slew of content sites and / or online stores. If your domain name is the keyword you want to rank for and you have good content on your websites you should find yourself ranking on the first page of the search engines for your keywords within about a month.

If you want to speed up the process, get even higher rankings, and stay at the top of the search engine results your next step would be to employ a viable backlink strategy.
