Health is recognized as a very big issue for most people. Living a healthy lifestyle in turns usually leads to a much longer and better quality of life. It can be hard to see sometimes that what you do now will have a direct impact on your life in future years. If you exercise daily and give your body the type of food it needs to replenish itself then you will be much better off down the road. Eating to much of the wrong thing such as high sugar content foods can lead to certain illness like diabetes.

An often overlooked condition that many people suffer from is acid reflux. It is also referred to as heart burn and can be quite uncomfortable. It happens when the acids from your stomach escape and move up to your throat and esophagus. If you have experienced heart burn than you know it is not the worst thing and only last for a certain time but it is uncomfortable. Your stomach acid rises up due to the valve between your throat and stomach not working properly.

Acid reflux can be cause by a number of different things that can be avoided. Your diet is what you need to be aware of as food is what most commonly causes heartburn. If you have a doctor or dietician ask them what foods you should avoid if you are having trouble with heart burn. Some of the well known foods that can cause acid reflux are:

Foods that contain a lot of oil or are fried and contain a lot of fat content. Soft drinks, teas and coffee since they contain caffeine. Caffeine is nice to give you your morning buzz but it also relaxes your esophagus allowing stomach acid to pass. Candies with chocolate also have a similar effect in relaxing the esophagus. Large meals where you over stuff yourself can lead to the pressure of having to much food in your stomach opening the esophagus Eating in close proximity of you going to bed because when you lay down the stomach relaxes and if you have not digested your food it can cause reflux. Smoking cigarettes or any tobacco related products also relax the throat muscles. Lastly drinking alcoholic beverages increase production of stomach acids.

Many of these above issues that cause and lead to heart burn are very common in most people's lives. While they can lead to you feeling uncomfortable when you experience acid reflux, some of them also have other major repercussions on our health such as smoking. Others are just more a choice and making a decision to eat more healthy and not over eat. See if any of the above can be avoided to help you if you want to get rid of your heart burn problem.

Living healthy is all about taking the future in to consideration and your body naturally warns you of certain things to stay away from to stay in better condition. While it may seem like not a big deal to get heart burn every once in awhile remember to listen to your body.
