V.I.P. stands for: Very Important Projects

If you want to get more done in less time - while making more money - you have to learn to indulge in the V.I.P. Treatment.

The V.I.P. Treatment consists of 4 steps:

1. Desire
2. Clarity
3. Importance
4. Space

1. Desire

Your life is a summation of your desires. Unfortunately, though, most desires are primitive in nature and not strategic. In other words, our desires are emotionally-driven and instant-gratification oriented, NOT logical, thought-out, and meaningful.

Now, I'm not here to argue what desires are more important (we need both). I am here, however, to point out that, in business, we need to know what we really want. So, can you answer the question: What do I really want?

In my opinion, it's the hardest question in the world to answer. But if you're going to succeed, you must answer the question.

So, what do you really want? Make a list of 5 projects you want to finish in the next 30 days. Here are some examples:

i. Clean off your desk

ii. Write a book

iii. Teach your child about money

iv. Create a speech

v. Design the landscape around your home

Make sure you write down what you really want. Not what you maybe want. Not what you might want. What you REALLY want!

You see, you can have anything you want in life if, one, you know what you want, and, two, you make a decision to get it. It's that simple.

But you can't get what you want unless you know what you want - what you really want. Make your list now before moving into step two of the V.I.P. Treatment.

Note: Most people float through life with no initiative, no drive, and no ambition.

I know this isn't you because you've made a decision to change your life...you made that decision as soon as you started reading this article - congrats!

Take action now to move onward and up!

2. Clarity

Now that you have a list of 5 projects that you really want to accomplish, you have to crystallize in your mind what they mean to you.

While you've taken a giant step in figuring out what you really want, you have to know specifically what you want and why you want it. Without this critical information, you won't feel intrigued to move. In other words, you need a fire under your butt and this information is the fuel!

Here's how to get crystal clear on your projects:

a. Take out 5 sheets of paper and write the name of each project you want to accomplish on the very top in BIG CAPITAL LETTERS.

Example: CLEAN DESK WRITE BOOK b. Now, on each sheet, write down what that project will look like when it's finished. Write in as much detail as possible.

Example: CLEAN DESK - all papers will be filed in correct folders; all folders will be put away in correct location; all business cards will be followed up with and cleared off; desk will be dusted and wiped off.

WRITE BOOK - book will be written, edited, and designed; files will be sent to printer/publisher; marketing plan will be done and ready to implement.

c. Finally, after vividly seeing what you want, write down the benefits you'll achieve when you're done. Use some emotional triggers to make these more captivating.

Example: CLEAN DESK - my mind will be uncluttered and free; my work area will be cleaned and ready to work on money making projects; my spouse will be off my back and I'll be stress-free.

WRITE BOOK - I'll feel fantastic, proud, and unstoppable; I'll make more money because my customers will view me as THE expert; I'll make additional money while I sleep...passive income...my favorite!

Time to move into step 3 for your V.I.P. Treatment.

3. Importance

This is where the rubber meets the road. You now know what you really want, why you want it, and how it'll look once you have it.

The next step is to put your projects in order of importance. On a clean sheet of paper, list what you want based on its importance to you. Do that now.

Here's an example:

- Write a book
- Create a speech
- Teach your child about money
- Clean your desk off
- Design the landscape around your home

Congratulations!!! Now you know your V.I.P.'s - your Very Important Projects.

Based on this knowledge, you're now able to create space in your life to get them done fast! No more messing around. It's time to get down to business...literally.

4. Space

Now that you know what you want, why you want it, how it'll look once you have it, and what your priorities are, you can now create the space in your schedule to achieve the results you want.

Before I show you how to create the time to get everything done, let me point out that you could've skipped the first three steps if you just wanted to create the time.

However, the chances of sticking to your new schedule are slim to none - and slim just left town. These steps were important! I hope you followed them...

Let's create some space in your schedule! Here's how:

a. Based on your priority list - your V.I.P. list - decide how many hours you want to dedicate every week to your #1 Priority.

Example: I dedicate 8 hours a week to writing.

b. Now that you know how much time you want to dedicate (roughly), open up your calendar and choose the days of the week that best serve you.

Example: I write on Mondays and Wednesdays.

c. Block out some time those days to write. The time you block out should reflect the amount of time you want to spend each week.

Example: I have 2 times blocked out each week: Monday morning & Wednesday morning.

(Those are the times I write. Are there exceptions? Sure. But they are few and far between because THOSE blocks of time are MY writing time!)

See how easy it was to create space for your V.I.P.'s! This could not have happened if you didn't know what you wanted, why you wanted it, how you wanted it to look, and what projects you wanted to accomplish most.

Now that you know your V.I.P.'s, indulge in them, get them done, and make more money in less time!
