Let's Talk About Weight Problems

I once thought litigation was the number of pups my dog had. But I am much smarter these days, so I had better come clean before I start. Living in a democracy is a truly wonderful privilege, but nevertheless there's always someone ready to take you on through the courts, fattening lawyers and skimming the loser. In my case I have not got a weight problem, and I have not got money to spend on legal fees. So here's my credentials, this will not take too long!

I am a 73 year old observant Aussie, my only educational credentials is a certificate saying I passed (just) Year 11 examinations at a country high school. But best of all, I have a framed certificate saying I was awarded Citizen of the Year 2000, given to me at a local council celebration. That's it, I told you it would not take long. As far as weight problems are concerned, I have no qualifications whatsoever, but that does not stop me from having my penny's worth. I consider myself lucky not being an expert on this subject; because of all the billions spent on this global weight problem they have made no progress with finding a solution. We have never ever been in worse shape. Experts have failed miserably.

Call me what you may, but I like to think I speak as Mr.Common Sense, unfortunately my family is a small one, letters after names, flash certificates, in reality mean very little. I pay on results only, haven't had to pay much so far. I will let you in on a little secret, I am writing this article because I really did have a "wait" problem only a fortnight ago. You see, my darling wife of 50 years, and our younger son and his wife did a shop at a local supermarket. I was luckily excused, sat myself near the exit door, and intended to read the paper. Not to be.

I said earlier I am observant, I thought I was pretty comfy sharing a seat with others, but the aisle soon proved to be not wide enough. Hard to read when you have a constant flow of "excuse me". I know when I'm a loser, so I put the paper aside and scanned the multitudes. What a sight, I saw some lovelies, but I was amazed at the number of people who were clearly excessively over weight. To further prove my point, I started counting, men and women, as they went out through the door. By the time I was summonsed by my family to join them, I had counted 92 young and olds with a obvious weight problem. Seriously, it is a disgusting figure, probably about one in two, but let's crank that down to one in three! I am not going to delve into the cure part of the exercise, that will come in a later article I am contemplating writing. For now, I wasn't to highlight weight things that I have never thought before now. Look at it this way?

I do not know, but would like to, what triggers someone to take the bull by the horns and actually take action, like contacting a weight loss clinic? Perhaps what I have to say here may be that little bit extra push to make that call. If it does, I will be delightfully happy. Do not think for one minute that being over weight is only affecting you. You are being very selfish if you do. Now don't stop reading this because I am treading on your toes, I really have to, by nature I'm really a softie! If you are still with me I will carry on.

Everyone around you, your close family, your relatives, your friends, would all prefer you to lose weight and let that hidden beauty come through to the surface. You better believe this is true. What do you think your children are observing as you walk them to school, they pass their friends accompanied by an attractive Mom or trim Dad, wouldn't say a word but I bet my bottom dollar they are thinking plenty. Unless you do something about your problem you really are being selfish.

You cannot tell me there's any joy in being over weight! You cannot tell me your hubby, wife, girl friend or whatever are happy being with you when they know only too well how much more attractive you would be if you took action. The difference between these two scenarios is enormous. There's plenty of others who you would probably never ever thought about, who are concerned with your situation. Here's a few for starters. I've already alluded to family and friends, but your doctor is another who would strongly encourage a remedy. So will the Government, the health bill is ridiculously big because there's an unnecessarily high number of obese people in the community who have done nothing to take control of their problem.

I know dozens of people who woke up to themselves, lost the desired amount of weight, and become happy, proud people, who now enjoy better health. Always remember, it's not just you, dozens of others will warm to a nicer you. Fancy being able to change an unhappy unattractive person to someone radiating good health, with a positive outlook on life, for less than the cost of a plasma TV!!

As I said earlier, the smarties in the health industry have recognised an enormous problem, but they could not sell a fish to a seal. They stopped half way, they have not shown the millions in need of help why they should do something about it. How to, where to, how to finance it, and if you leave it to the Government to fix it, you will probably die of old age rather than obesity.

Everyone knows what the trouble is; very few can find a cure. No one can match the Government in the dilly dally stakes, vote catching policies don't fix anything, leave alone this huge weight one. I'm going to follow up on this after I investigate the finance aspect of getting weight loss treatment, so hang in there, I'll return soon!
