Ever wonder why some people are successful and others are not? Or why some musicians can make hit after hit, while others struggle to record one good song? Or why there are movies that become instant classics. These are the movies that you never get tired of watching, because they have underlying themes that resonate with our souls. The movie The Matrix has serious spiritual undertones. I watched the movie years ago, when I was still "trapped in the matrix." And although I didn't truly understand the richness and value of the theme, there was something about the movie that resonated strongly with me.

It wasn't until later, that I realized that I was sleeping through life. Much like the movie, I was tucked away into a cocoon, a fantasy world that I had created. Today, I understand that there are millions of people who live their lives this way. After all, our cocoons protect us and give us comfort. It allows us to feel safe and secure, almost as if we are back in our mother's womb.

However, the cocoon is just an illusion. And while we are sleeping through life, the world is passing us by. So we rely on comfort and safety. We make excuses and say things like, I hate my job but I am not good enough to get anything else. Or my partner is a worthless bum, but I can't leave him or her because I can't stand the thought of being alone.

Meanwhile, while we are sleeping. People who are awakened are going after what they want. They understand that all the things that they need in life already exists in a parallel reality. These are the people who always get the promotions, the money, the fame, and the glory. While the people who are trapped in the matrix feel cheated, exploited, and used up like cheap toilet paper.

So how do we break out of the cocoon? How do we "unplug ourselves from the matrix?" We do it by facing our deepest darkest fears. We do it by doing the things that make us the most uncomfortable. And this means facing our worse fear, death. This means facing our demons head on, and letting go of the "programs" that hinder our growth. This is the concept of reawakening that is explored in virtually every living culture and holy text. It is a process of transformation, a spiritual metamorphosis that allows us to transcend to higher worlds.
