In modern western culture, trying to find intimate companionship can present a quite significant challenge. The problems many singles have in finding a partner often have to do with issues of spare time and establishing connections. The typical adult is highly busy with work and other obligations. There's not much time left to search for an appropriate mate. And modern day living can lack a feeling of connectivity: living in urban areas especially, it can be hard to establish a sense of community, and to meet potential mates that way.

The problem of finding companionship has been commercialized, naturally, with various matchmaking services claiming they're the ones to help find intimacy. Some of these services are more reputable and have been more successful in bringing people together than others. With the proliferation of the Internet, virtual matchmaking websites have sprung up almost too fast to keep track. Regardless of whether the service is online or has an actual brick and mortar presence however, matchmaking services cost money to access.

One alternative to the cost matchmaking services that people have begun to utilize is MySpace. MySpace of course is the social networking site with a reputation as a virtual hangout for adolescents. Looking over MySpace though, it's clear that not everyone who uses the site is some form of teenager. In fact, adults have more than carved out a niche on MySpace, and use the service for social networking and business promotion both. For purposes of networking, each MySpace profile allows a user to describe their current intimate relationship status and what type of connection if any they'd like to make.

Before deciding that MySpace is the answer to meeting the perfect life partner, it is important to bear in mind that MySpace is not specific to finding romantic connections. Establishing intimacy can and does happen on MySpace, but it's clearly not exclusive to that purpose. Most people on MySpace likely aren't there looking for a mate. Still, MySpace has over one hundred million members. With those types of numbers, even if a minority of members were single and looking for companionship you'd be talking about an enormous potential pool.

Using MySpace as part of a matchmaking strategy is entirely reasonable. Again, people have made intimate connections on MySpace, and it's happened more than once. Using MySpace exclusively for matchmaking may not generate happy results, but MySpace in combination with other matchmaking sites provides wide coverage. You may not find the special someone you're looking for, but you'll be giving yourself a fair chance to do so.
