1. Unique Web Pages:
Don't fall into the trap of lumping all of your products into one website or web page just to save some money on hosting. Promote each separate product on its own domain and web page.

Product review pages, allowing potential customers to see and understand what it is you are all about.

If you want to have any chance of making a sale, either an affiliate sale or a sale of your own products then you will need to build a rapport with your prospects. One of the best tried and tested ways for doing this is to give something away as an introductory offer. This has many benefits, especially if you are an affiliate, marketer. Most of your competition will be sending clients directly to an affiliate link sales page.
By giving away something like a free report or online training video you will be engaging with customers and also collecting, via a squeeze page, their email details for your own list building.
Try to position your offer, e.g. a free report, at the very top side of your page so it is in a prominent position and cannot be missed.
Once you have your prospect on you list, don't shy away from emailing them with further free gifts and valuable information. You could even give them a taster of your product e.g. the first chapter of your new book.
One word of caution here, whatever you do, make sure your freebie is relevant and don't spam anyone, otherwise your business will become blacklisted.
3. Targeted Traffic Only:
There's always a temptation when starting a business online, to believe that just by having traffic to your offer then you will generate sales. This kind of thinking has led to many a newbie marketer packing it in because they cannot generate any sales at all.
Do remember there are two kinds of traffic, there's general untargeted traffic which includes spam and targeted traffic. Untargeted traffic can be available by the tens of thousands and you will be very fortunate to make any sales at all.
Targeted traffic, however, and we are talking about the right type of targeted traffic, can give you high opt-in rates along with higher than average sales. Your website and offer must be directed at interested prospects, otherwise it is a waste of your time and effort.
