Florence and Expo 2015

2015 is full of culture; from large exhibitions of Antony Gormley and Jeff Koons, to Medici Tapestries. Up to Summer, Florence is characterized by events and appointments that will further enrich the cultural and artistic Florence, throughout the period of Expo 2015. It will be combining past and present, that will see the inauguration of the exhibition on Tapestries, an artistic event of great importance for Florence.

The exhibition will coincide with the opening of the Expo and will be presented at the Palazzo Reale in Milan the winds tapestries with the story of Joseph, drawings by Pontormo, and Bronzino's return to Florence in September, for the first time the hall of the thirteenth century will again be coated Biblical tapestries as in the 16th century.

2015 will be the year of the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of Florence Capital, which will open February 3rd with the commemoration of the arrival of the King of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II in the Tuscan capital, the year will be full of events and appointments of great importance. It will also be for contemporary art with two great artists such as the Antony Gormley exhibition which will be inaugurated on April 25th at Fort Belvedere, and Jeff Koons who will exhibit his works at the Palazzo Pitti and Palazzo Vecchio in conjunction with the biennial Antiques.

Enriching 2015 there will be other events such as the Festival of the children in the spring, with a Hall of Arms in multimedia version, and the Italian pavilion of Expo which will be housed in the complex of St. Florence.

St Florence will be exposed for the entire period of the expo, the excellence of craft and food of Florence and Tuscany, which represent the true excellence of the area already known and appreciated throughout the world as the highest quality products.2015 shows huge prospects in light of the excellent results achieved by Florence in terms of attendance in the museums of the city, the past year have in fact seen the number of appearances in growth for all the museums.

In the lead with the Uffizi and the Accademia gallery representing respectively the first and the second most visited museum in Italy, these numbers are nothing new for Florence, nevertheless they highlight the period extremely virtuous that the tourism sector of the Tuscan city is going through, the city seems to be able to fit in the world of tourism circuits involving new tourist markets that represent an important slice of market, not only for the present but also in the future.

In this perspective, the Expo 2015 in Milan is a showcase of exception which still shows Florence cradle of the Renaissance already known and appreciated all over the world, is presented as an added value for what Italy has to offer, along with tourism in other cities such as Venice and Rome.
